Meet Rob Liddell! Professional Goaltending Coach with a Passion to Motivate Athletes to Reach Their Full Potential.

Name: Rob Liddell

Place you live? Royal Oak, MI, USA

What type of athlete are you? Ice Hockey Goaltending Coach

Do you have a day job or are you a professional athlete? Professional Coach

How long have you been participating in this sport? Played for 10+ years and have coached for 8 years

What athletes do you look up to? Jeff Salajko (Detroit Red Wings Goaltending Coach), Mat Fraser, Rich Froning, Conor McGregor, Jimmy Howard (Red Wings, NHL), Jonathon Quick (LA Kings, NHL), Marc-Andre Fleury (Vegas Golden Knights, NHL).

What got you excited about athletics? I always loved the feeling of competition. As a couch, I love the process of seeing an athlete develop over the course of several years. Taking them from who they are, to who they have always wanted to be. Showing them that their dreams are possible.

Describe your perfect day. What does it consist of? Wake up, coffee, gym, nice post workout meal, coach in the afternoon or evening, watch TV with my wife and make take the dogs for a walk. I am not the type of person who enjoys sitting on a beach. Put me in a rink and let me coach. That's where I belong.

What is your diet like? Mostly gluten free; my wife has Celiac. Also mostly dairy free. Paleo/low carb mish-mosh with the occasional cheat day / cheat weekend.

How do you take care of yourself? Exercise, writing and playing music and burying myself in work.

What was your impression of the Silipos Oval Lace Bite we sent you? How did it add value to you? What did you like about it? The product is soft, light and comfortable. Definitely something I would wear when I get lace-bite from sweating in my skates. Most often during the summer months when private lessons are in full swing and my skates don't dry properly between lessons.

Would you recommend Silipos products to other athletes? Yes

What is one piece of advice you would give to an aspiring athlete? Don't ever give up! Ever! Two years ago, I was sitting at a desk and I was miserable. I thought there had to be something more to life than making money for someone else. I had always been coaching in my spare time and over the course of several months, I caught a few lucky breaks networking. I took advantage of the timing, saved up all my coaching money, started building a social media following and was able to quit my job to pursue coaching full time. Anything is possible if you're willing to put in the work. No, that is not just something people say...it can be your reality too. If you have a dream, chase it. Don't ever quit.
